| Low Impact Development: Growth AND
Sustainability |

 |
Here in the Ozarks, one of our most precious
resources is the water. People are drawn to this area for the
abundance of beautiful lakes and streams, yet with this
population growth comes diminishing water quality.
Ever-increasing demands on natural resources have created new
challenges for builders and developers. As awareness of
environmental issues rises, so does the demand for greener, less
negatively impactful building techniques. Whether driven by
tighter regulations designed to protect our natural resources or
customer demand, conscientious development decisions are a must
to stay competitive and protect our resources. |

This conference provided tools needed to
begin incorporating stormwater management Low Impact Development
(LID) techniques into your everyday designs. By studying various
site-planning and hydrological based methods, some new, some
currently utilized worldwide, lid techniques offers solutions to
these challenges. Promoted by the EPA, LID can help meet the
Clean Water Act requirements, preserve our water quality and
replenish our aquifer, while offering economical benefits. |
