Partnership
Executive Director
Function:
The executive director will
oversee day to day functions of the partnership and supervise
all employees. He/She will be responsible for retaining adequate
funding for education/outreach and implementation projects and
programs to positively impact the water quality of the James
River Watershed. He/she will administer and oversee all projects
including reporting requirements for grant projects. The
Executive Director is required to work flexible hours and handle
diverse tasks. The executive director is responsible for
interacting with other organizations and agencies to build
partnerships and present organization information to a wide
variety of community groups.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform administrative duties
related to JRBP general operation such as:
- Financials -
preparing invoices, payments received, managing quick books,
coding all expenditures, preparing deposits, monthly
reconciliation of all accounts, creating annual budgets
(financial task are completed for general and all current
grants-typically 3-6 grants are con-currently occurring) .
10% of time dedicated to these tasks
- Employee Management -
Hold weekly staff meetings, meet with staff as needed
related to specific projects and program development,
delegate tasks related to projects and programs, create
tasks, communicate, manage Service Learning and Graduate
Student Assistants. 5% of time dedicated to these tasks
- Resource Development
- Grant submission 2-3 annually, meetings with partners to
develop new projects/programs, work to develop sustainable
funding, sustain, develop, and oversee all successful
projects (i.e. septic tank pump-out program, urban soil
test, rain barrel sales)develop and implement fundraising
annual events. 5% of time dedicated to these tasks
- Communication -
answering phone and email request related to information
requested, work with individuals on special projects (i.e.
development issues and better management practice demos),
organizing/attending meetings including: membership, board,
and special committees; preparation of communication pieces
including newsletters, emails, letters, and
promotional/educational pieces. 10% of time dedicated to
these tasks
- Perform duties required for
grant administration, facilitation, and implementation to
include:
- Financial and Progress
Reporting (grant administration) - create comprehensive
progress reports on individual grants, assist in preparation
of invoice reports and review and approve all payment
request, quantitatively track specific projects/programs,
create and facility assessments of grants. 5% of time
dedicated to these tasks
- Grant Facilitation -
working with partners to develop ways to most cost
efficiently implement grant requirements. 5% of time
dedicated to these tasks.
- Grant Implementation
- Meet grant requirements that include implementation of
Better Management Practices, develop educational/outreach
information publications, public relations-including TV,
radio, and print, host project meetings
60-90% of time dedicated to these tasks
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree required;
Masters Degree preferred with experience in water quality,
related natural science field, or education encouraged.
- Grant writing and
administration experience are strongly desired.
- Effective oral and written
communication, interaction with other organizations and
agencies, and advanced presentation skills necessary.
- The ability and willingness to
conduct fundraisers and develop projects is required.
Salary:
Salary range is from $35,000 to $45,000 per year negotiable
based on experience and skills.
